ENGLISH PROFICIENCY

All students who are not native speakers of English or who do not possess at least a secondary school degree from an English-language educational institution located in an English-speaking country must demonstrate a level of proficiency in the English language sufficient to successfully complete their courses of study at the university. Proficiency may be demonstrated by:
  1. A score of 500 on Paper-Based TOEFL or 173 on Computer-Based TOEFL.
  2. A score of 500 or higher on the Institutional TOEFL administered by SVU prior to admission.

The Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant student will be prepared for and issued to the student after the application and all necessary documents have been received and thoroughly reviewed and the Office of Admissions has made a decision to accept the applicant as an SVU student.
