As you know, our University has lost its accreditation from ACICS, and consequently our status with the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (“BPPE”) is “expired”. In this email, we want to keep you informed about our SEVP status.
As part of the winding down process, we notified SEVP of our closing and therefore we had to withdraw from the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP).
Below are the important info regarding SEVP that you should know:
SVU has SEVIS access until June 30, 2018. Any updates or transfers must be completed before this deadline.
SVU nonimmigrant students in Active status, including those participating in optional practical training (OPT) and science, technology, engineering and mathematics OPT, have until June 30, 2018, to:
- Complete their program,
- Seek a change of status, or
- Enroll in another qualified program of study at an SEVP certified school.
If one of these actions is not completed within this time frame, your record will be automatically terminated in SEVIS and you will be considered out of status. If you elect to continue their studies in the United States, it is your responsibilities to complete a transfer to another SEVP-certified school. If you elect to discontinue their studies, please inform SVU and your SEVIS record will be terminated for the reason of authorized early withdrawal.
Nonimmigrant students who have questions about their status options should call the SEVP Response Center at 703-603-3400. This number is staffed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, except federal holidays.
Also, feel free to contact Student Office for any additional questions. Student Office will be open from Monday to Friday, 11 a.m to 6 p.m. PST, except holidays.
